[help needed] Mica, TFR: An open letter to EU representatives v0.1
A piece of EU regulation is threatening civil liberties, human rights and the web3 movement. Let's organize and help our political leaders to maneuver uncharted territories.
Very recently the EU parliament voted on a draft regulation focused on Markets in Crypto Assets and Transfer of Funds (Mica, TFR).
This piece of regulation includes a de facto ban of non-custodial wallets, invades EU citizen’s civil liberties and privacy while stifling innovation through overwhelming bureaucracy. It will affect not just EU citizens and builders but every project in the space - including protocols, DAOs and foreign companies.
That’s why we teamed up with various global innovators in the space to help our political leaders maneuvering uncharted territories in an open letter.
It provides rich context on what’s at stake and what the societal benefits of web3 technologies are before diving deeper into the regulatory aspects including comments as well as concrete policy proposals. It shall provide a resource for legislators and jump start a broader democratic discussion and increase alignment to turn Europe into an innovation powerhouse.
It is not related to any membership organization or company. It does not represent any particular group with commercial interests. It is an open resource available for everyone, written by the community.
We need your help to make our voices being heard. Before sending this letter to every decision maker on national as well as EU levels concerned in the legislative process we need to get your support. Please sign this letter as an individual, company or protocol.
The letter is open sourced and independent. Please feel free to copy and share it with your networks to amplify the message. If you want to share this blog post directly, go ahead.
Thank you.
