Mission
Building an internet native, cooperative and open economy that democratises ownership as well as access to financial services, data and knowledge.
Vision
We believe that the open economy will radically transform every aspect of human (and machine) collaboration at a global scale. It will come with new business models to foster stakeholder centric value distribution. With shrinking time and allocation windows for private capital injections Inflection is expanding the venture model towards an active and long term stakeholder role.
We are closely collaborating with our portfolio projects on high leverage activities such as organizational, business model and governance design as well as technology enabled community growth and maintenance among others.
Values and guiding principles
Community
We are thriving for connection. We rely on our colleagues to fill their respective roles while being aware of their various different interests, talents, diverse backgrounds, feelings and needs. We bring our whole selves and personalities to work. That way we can have open, honest and authentic relationships with our teammates and business partners. We make efforts to know, understand, help and support each other as well as finding joy and purpose in our collaboration.
Default to transparency. We reveal the backgrounds and motivations of our actions to make them understandable and to create trust. Transparency promotes empathy and inclusion while enabling ownership, accountability and informed decision making. Hence, we grant everyone in the community access to relevant information.
Collaboration
Inflection’s organizational structure is not hierarchical but role based: accountabilities are mapped on roles and roles are mapped on individuals. Individuals are empowered to take decisions within their roles.
Self management and accountability. We are committed to continuously work on our self management skills in order to stay on top of our various responsibilities. If things don’t work out we adapt. We organise our own work, calendars, deadlines and tasks.
Seeking alignment, not consensus. We are empowered to take decisions within the boundaries of our roles. Wherever other stakeholders are significantly affected by our decisions we ensure that they are sufficiently informed (transparency). After considering all feedback we take the best possible decision based on our knowledge in a specific situation. We own the decision and are responsible for the results. We adjust whenever the outcomes differ from what we’ve been thriving for.
Determined to learn and grow. In a high pace, rapidly changing (work) environment we want to stay on top of things and expand our skill sets and develop our personalities. This can span all facets of life like e.g. learning to use new technologies / software, new languages, instruments, sports or spiritual practices. We share such goals openly to encourage us in difficult times and to reflect on the bigger picture collaboratively.
Innovation
Identifying societal and technological inflection points by finding truth is our business. As innovation always happens at the fringes of society, never in the mainstream we establish and maintain mental and operational frameworks to overcome our biases.
Radical open mindedness. We have open ears and minds for radical and controversial ideas, especially if they contradict our previous beliefs and convictions. We ignore social status and backgrounds of the people we are working with to focus on finding truth - often brought to us by rebels and misfits - people who think differently and change the world.
Embracing failure. We are determined to push the boundaries of the venture capital industry. To do that we will experiment in a safe environment where failure is perceived as a necessary step on the path of growth and success. Whenever we fail we deeply reflect upon the underlying drivers of our failures to identify patterns and ultimately learn from our mistakes. We adapt.
